The system was developed in the 1960's by NASA and ensures the safety of food by identifying critical control points (CCP's) in the food production & supply chain and then carefully monitoring those control points to ensure food is safe.New food hygiene regulations introduced in January 2006 mean that all food establishments must implement and maintain a food safety management system that is based on the seven HACCP principles.
