Managing dust in construction & trades and related industries

More than 3,500 builders die each year from cancers related to their work and becoming exposed to harmful substances, with thousands more cases of ill-health and working days lost. Dust poses a real long-term health risk to anyone who inhales it, often causing harmful lung conditions years after a person comes into contact with it.

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) announced that from 15 May until July, it’ll be visiting sites to make sure employers and workers are taking the right steps to protect everyone from dust.

So – what’s the dust situation at your workplace? Do you have risk assessments in place? How about Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)? Or are you just at a bit of a loss? HS Direct has got your back with our free guide to managing dust in your workplace.

Whether you just want reassurance that you’re ticking your boxes or you have no idea what you need in place, this guide is for you. Put together by Health & Safety experts, we’ll cover what the law says, the risks you might face and how to control them.
